Mrs. Lisa Ozello
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I have been teaching students with learning differences for over 25 years. My experience comes from many different learning environments, including private schools, online schools, schools specifically designed for students with learning and behavioral concerns, and public schools. It took me a while to finally find my niche, but I couldn't be happier than at Hudson City Schools.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University and my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Special Education from Cleveland State University. I continue taking graduate courses specific to my students' learning and academic needs.
When students enter my classroom, they can expect to be treated with respect and fairness. Something I learned early in my career was to teach my students as though a parent or an administrator was sitting at one the desks in my classroom. I treat my students how I would want my own children to be treated in a classroom. I have high expectations for my students to participate in class discussions, complete homework, and to push themselves to succeed. Students are encouraged to seek help during their Study Strategies Period or Explorer Period when they are unsure of a topic or concept. Students should come to all classes prepared with the necessary materials to succeed in the classroom: text, CHARGED iPad, graph paper, calculator, pencils, and an attitude for learning.
I am looking forward to a great 2023 - 2024 school year.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have been married to my husband Mike for 26 years. We have two children - Jackson, a 2018 Hudson High School graduate and a graduate from Kent State University, and Nina, a 2022 Hudson High School graduate who will be a sophomore at the University of Dayton this fall. We also have a West Highland Terrier named Gunner who is 14 years old.
As always, I am looking forward to learning new things with your students every day. As an Intervention Specialist, I find myself working very closely with my students' families. Having a working relationship and open communication with parents is something I strive for. You are a big part of your child's educational team. Your input is extremely valuable to me. Please feel free to contact me with your concerns and questions.
Sincerely,
Lisa Ozello
